When one combines sustainability and niche concepts, one comes across a very special apparel section in the fashion world - headwear. For the past few years there has been much more interest in headwear. A hat has never just been a practical item of a wardrobe, it has always been a statement.
Tatiana Ashakova, the designer behind her exclusive headwear and accessory brand BeretkAh..! - who just had her first BFW show is the advocate for a “renewable fashion statement”.
“I created my collection in accordance with the most fundamental millinery concept - zero waste. It has always been in the DNA of my brand since I launched it back in 2011. This philosophy has become one of the most highlighted for the past decade and I feel very proud that I haven’t gone off the path and didn’t launch any mass production. In the world full of consumerism we should rather invest in experiences and heritage instead of producing generic and trendy useless things. By creating a hat that will stay unique, because I might not end up making another exactly the same, I create a new emotional connection with a wearer, who might discover her new “ME”.
Utilizing the rests of luxury fabrics and haberdashery items sought from different designer ateliers across Europe and using upcycling techniques Tatiana created her new Middle East inspired collection „Jardin du Soleil“ that might not be as suitable for Berlin with its richness and extravanagcy but surely will inspire those who share the love for hats and Middle Eastern flair.
