Workshop Flow
Day 1 — Exploration, Direction & Shaping
Friday, 6.02.2026: 15:00–20:00
The first day is dedicated to exploration and finding direction.
We begin by discussing shapes, proportions, and styles. You will choose the hat direction you wish to explore, and a selection of head bodies and wooden hat blocks will be available to support your choice. Participants are kindly encouraged to contact me in advance if they already have a specific style in mind—this allows us to prepare the best possible foundation for your design.
You will work with the damp felt technique, shaping your hat by hand on the chosen block. This day is about understanding the material, trusting your instincts, and letting the hat take form naturally. Everything is done under my direct supervision, with individual guidance throughout the process.
As felt needs time to dry and settle, your hat will rest after the first session, preparing it for refinement and completion on the second day.
All participants will enjoy beautiful, thoughtfully prepared food provided by King David Villa, adding a sensory and social layer to the creative process.
Day 2 — Finishing, Details & Completion
Saturday, 7.02.2026 | 12:00-19.00
The second day is dedicated to bringing the hat to completion.
You will finalize the shape, make and insert the lining, refine proportions, and work on decorative elements if desired. If necessary, hats can be re-stretched or adjusted to achieve the perfect fit and balance. This stage is where the craftsmanship deepens and your personal style becomes fully visible.
We conclude the workshop in a warm atmosphere of togetherness and celebration—honoring the process, the newly learned craft, and the unique pieces created by each participant. The experience will be finished with a content-focused photoshoot, capturing your finished hat and the moment of completion.
Once again, the day will be complemented by beautiful food provided by King David Villa, allowing us to end the workshop in a relaxed and celebratory mood.
If you come from outside of Berlin, an opportunity to stay at an amazing villa can be explored for an extra cost.
